News of the Lithuanian Metrica 18 – 2020/2023

As has already become the norm, so too in this latest issue of News of the Lithuanian Metrica we present the reviews and abstracts of five books of the Lithuanian Metrica published in 2020–2023 in the countries fostering the written cultural heritage of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, along with abstracts written by the book editors themselves. Four books of the Lithuanian Metrica published in Lithuania are presented by their editors: Artūras Dubonis – LM-24 (Book of Inscriptions), Irena Valikonytė – LM-239, also known as Book of Court Records 24, Neringa Šlimienė – LM-265, also known as Book of Court Records 51, and the final one – LM-253 – was reviewed by Karolis Čižauskas. Aliaksandr Hrusha reviewed LM-35, which was published in Belarus by his colleague Andrei Miatselsky. In this issue, we continue the tradition of informing the reader about separate publications of the Lithuanian Metrica documents. This time, Simona Glazauskaitė annotates a publication of one document from LM-525, the first notebook of the Acts of the Diocese of Semigallia.
Ever since the first issue of News of the Lithuanian Metrica was released in 1997, we would always translate the Lithuanian text into Russian and publish it as a separate newsletter. From this issue, we will no longer be publishing a Russian version of News of the Lithuanian Metrica but will begin to release the supplement in English. We think that this will help attract more foreign readers and will enhance future research into the Lithuanian Metrica and promote the dissemination of published papers.
We, the editors and authors of this supplement, kindly invite readers to express heir opinions regarding research and publication of the Lithuanian Metrica within the pages of News of the Lithuanian Metrica and to submit recommendations. We would also appreciate information about new entries related to the research of the Lithuanian Metrica, as well as imprints or copies of articles and small publications. The editors of this publication hope that the rate of research and publication of the Lithuanian Metrica books will only increase.
